Industry Placement
Industry Placement forms an integral part of your degree at Blue Mountains. Industry Placement semesters are spent in leading hotel and tourism organisations around the world and give students the opportunity to put into practice the skills they have learned. Student Testimonials
As an Assistant Lodge Manager (Trainee) with the Mbalageti Lodge, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, Africa, I was in charge of the restaurant during the day and the hotel as duty manager at night. It was so exciting; I had never seen a place so beautiful. Professionally I learned so much. And you had to learn about another culture, another way of doing things. My placement gave me a totally new perspective on my life- what’s important and what’s not.
Anders Solvang, Graduate, Norway
During my Rooms Division placement at the five star Hotel Windsor in Melbourne, the management were very friendly and encouraged their staff to be creative and innovative. Work as a room attendant was physically hard but I also experienced responsibility as a supervisor and coordinator. I still keep in touch with the Assistant Housekeeping Manager who really talked to me as a friend about management style and skills.
Jason Ze Bian, Level 3 Student, China
I conducted my Level 1 industry placement at Hyatt Regency Perth, in Western Australia, as a Food and Beverage Attendant. I greatly enjoyed my placement as it facilitated a time of growth, not only professionally but personally as well. The Assistant Manager of Hyatt Regency Perth’s Banquets, Conferences and Events department continues to be my mentor today and provided me with some excellent references.

Industry Testimonials
Having Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School trainees provided me with a communication line with our foreign guests. I welcome the opportunity to continue to have Blue Mountains students as they certainly add value to the hotel and are a positive example for hospitality management trainees who have a passion for this industry.
Bruno Storti, General Manager, Rendezvous Merry Hotel Shanghai
Our property has been fortunate enough to have had Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School students placed with us. The students were passionate about hospitality. Placed in Front Office, the students quickly learn the ropes and operations of a very large hotel. The students fitted easily into the team and regularly received compliments from our guests on their professional customer service and attentiveness.
Tracey Holdsworth, HR Manager, Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach.
