2nd Year Student I came to the Blue Mountains Hotel School straight after finishing my senior year at school in Beirut. During my first six month Industry Placement I worked in Central Australia in the Desert Gardens Hotel at the Ayers Rock Resort. I started as a waiter in the restaurant but was soon promoted to supervisor. Shortly after I started work I was approached by VIP Tours to also work part time as a tour guide in the national park. They heard that I could speak French and knew I was a student from the Blue Mountains. Needless to say I saved a lot of money, over AUD$ 10,000 in only six months! I am currently on my second placement working on Reception in one of central Sydney's best hotels, the Hyde Park Plaza. I really enjoy working in the city with all the excitement but unfortunately I am not saving as much money this time! The skills I have learned at the school have really prepared me for the challenges of this demanding industry. When I graduate next year I plan to open my own boutique guesthouse. |
